Thank you for giving us the opportunity to review your work. It was one of the hundreds that we received for the Winter 2009 issue of SNReview (www.snreview.org). We, however, will pass on the opportunity to publish it. Remember that this is not a reflection on the quality of the work but on the nature of the publishing market. Good luck with your writing, and we apologize for taking so long to respond.

We regret to inform you that your submission to the FictionWeek Literary review was not accepted for the Fall 2009 issue. There are many reasons why a story or poem might not be accepted. Often it has nothing to do with the quality of the writing. For this issue, the submission committee tried to select a variety of topics and writing styles, but of the hundreds and hundreds of submissions we received, only a very few could be selected for the Fall 2009 issue. You are welcome to submit another story or poem for our Spring 2010 issue.

We hope that you will continue to send us your work. Best of luck.

Thank you for your interest in Smartish Pace and for allowing us to read your poems. Unfortunately your poems were not selected for publication. We hope that you will consider sending poems to Smartish Pace again in the future (please note our policy of 1 submission per year; though you may also enter our contests) and support our independent publication by ordering our new issue or a subscription.

Dear Jake Kilroy,
I'm very sorry that it's taken us forever to respond to your submission. We've been slogged with online submissions, and in fact have closed the gates until January 2010.
I'm also sorry to say that your poems weren't a good fit for us. We wish you the best of luck in placing them elsewhere.
Warm wishes from New Orleans,
Mark Yakich
